We have received several criticisms that we draw a lot of attention to large catamarans and ignore small ones. Of course it's not! If we take our largest catamarans, then no one else in Ukraine produces them except us. That is why we draw the attention of consumers to them. But, right now, we will tell you about the smallest catamarans that can be used for travel and weekend relaxation. If we can set up a tent for the night on a catamaran, then it can already be called a water cruiser.
The smallest such catamaran is the Smart Fisher 500. It is a light catamaran weighing 52 kg, 150 cm wide and 504 cm long. This is a full-fledged three-seater catamaran, but there is enough space for three more people. But it is not necessary to exceed its carrying capacity - 460 kg. We remember that the bottom of the catamaran should not touch the surface of the water in order to obtain good running properties. Therefore, it is not necessary to exceed the maximum load specified by the manufacturer. The catamaran has a balloon diameter of 42 cm, but you can additionally install a bulwark with a diameter of 15-21 cm, which will significantly increase the internal space and the height of the freeboard.
The Smart Fisher 500 has a captain's cockpit, 132 cm long, and the front one - 196 cm, on which a double tent can be installed. Therefore, it will be a two-seater cruiser for traveling. Although there is a 150-liter waterproof trunk in the bow, for multi-day trips, the Smart Fisher 570 will still be more convenient. It is 6 kg heavier, but there is much more space, and the load capacity is already 540 kg. All things will be placed, and people will be comfortable. Especially when a tent is installed in the front part, there is enough space for cooking and evening gatherings, or for fishing. Thanks to their light weight, these catamarans can be carried by two people over obstacles that can be encountered on small rivers. The tent in the front part is pitched only for the night, and during the day you will have plenty of free space to relax. You can anchor in a nice place, have a picnic, swim from the side, fish, whatever!
Smart Fisher 500 and 570 can be equipped with two pairs of oars. Catamarans have a very easy ride and, as speed measurements have shown, they are not inferior in speed to kayaks. But to get back upstream to where you started, you'll need a motor. The optimal choice, in our opinion, will be a four-stroke engine with a power of 5-6 hp. It will have a maximum speed of about 20 km/h, and at low average speeds - about 12-14 km/h, which is 1.5 – 2 times faster than the average speed of kayaks. At the same time, the average fuel consumption will be 0.5–0.7 liters per hour. Very economical.
